About Us - Strategic Directions
The Nexstar Legacy Foundation began in fall of 2005 as the dream of several Nexstar Network Members, the founders of the foundation. It has continued to grow into a strong program focused on giving back through the contracting home-services industry.
In February of 2009, the board of the foundation came together to create a strategy for the foundation that will sustain it over the next three years. The following three-year strategic goals were developed and approved in March of 2010.
1. Through December 31, 2012, evaluate and improve the ability of the scholarship program to increase the number of and skill of individuals who are planning to or have careers in the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical fields; and create a system for measuring impact.
2. Using on-going marketing planning started in 2009, implement a marketing schedule with emphasis on growing the number of supporters (financial or other) by 75% by December 31, 2012.
3. Using on-going fund development planning started in 2009, implement a fundraising plan, system and schedule that will raise adequate funds to cover operating costs plus an additional $250,000 by December 31, 2012.
4. Explore avenues for new gifting initiatives; determine the need, want or desire to implement a new program by January 1, 2013.
5. Keep growth of paid and unpaid staff and volunteers as well as other administrative activities (such as policies) at levels that meet the changing structure of the foundation.
