The Purpose Of The Nexstar Legacy Foundation Is

“To give back THROUGH an industry
that has been so good to us.”

The gift of the foundation will be to help those who are struggling to become more successful by providing them with funds, scholarships and educational opportunities they would otherwise not have access to. “This is truly a benevolent foundation that will carry all our legacies into the future,” explains John Ward, owner Applewood Plumbing & Heating & Electric.

The initial focus and distribution of the foundation’s funds will be in the area of business and technical scholarships. The founders identified five scholastic goals for which they will consider scholarships. They are:

• Associates (A.A.S.) college degree
• Assistance with obtaining a trade school education – financial help for an individual who wants to pursue a plumbing, HVAC or electrical trade certifications
• Undergraduate or graduate college degree (B.S., B.A. or M.B.A.) in fields such as business administration, accounting, marketing, and mechanical or electrical engineering

The intent of the Nexstar Legacy Foundation scholarship program is to provide funding for people entering the plumbing, HVACR and / or electrical fields.

To help with the development and execution of the foundation’s plan to roll out a series of scholarships, they have asked several prominent figures in our industry to serve on the foundation’s first Scholarship Committee. They are:

• Frank Blau — Founding member of Nexstar and Nexstar Legacy Foundation; Scholarship Committee Chair
• Tom Kelly — Founding member of Nexstar
• Brad Martin — Past President of the Nexstar Board of Directors; Nexstar Legacy Foundation Scholarship Committee Co-Chair
• Ellen Rohr — Past Nexstar member and trainer
• Jim Olsztynski — Editorial Director of Plumbing & Mechanical Magazine; longtime proponent of Nexstar
• Dan Weltman — Founding member of Nexstar
