Legacy Foundation

Build a lasting legacy in the plumbing, HVAC and electrical fields.

The vision of the Nexstar Legacy Foundation is to inspire people to discover the prestige, earning power and stability of careers in the plumbing, HVAC and electrical industries by being the leading resource for information on careers and training, as well as a source of financial aid.  As a 501c3 organization, the foundation currently provides scholarships to students planning a career in these industries, launching a new initiative to grow its outreach efforts to attract even more students to enter the trades.

Scholarships

We currently offer scholarships for people interested in working in a business that provides home or commercial plumbing, heating/cooling or electrical services.  This includes people pursuing management level positions in a business through the Management Scholarship application, as well as people pursuing technical training to work as installers and service providers, through the Technical School Scholarship application.  Started in 2006, the foundation scholarship program has already granted more than $100,000 to students in this field.

The online application will be available February 1, 2012 through March 31, 2012, with a second round of applications for the Technical School Scholarship program available May 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012.  Click here for more details.

New Initiative

Throughout 2012, the foundation will be doing outreach to students and educators in order to improve the level of communication students are receiving regarding a profession in the trades.  This outreach will lead to expanded systems of support for students who are interested in this career path.  The goal is to attract significant talent to the plumbing, HVAC and electrical industries. 

A Message From One Of The Founders

The Nexstar Legacy Foundation started as a dream to provide a channel for people in the home service industry to give back to their community. Businesses in the plumbing, HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration) and electrical industries provided funding to start the foundation in 2005. The foundation immediately began to serve the community through its scholarship program, designed to attract talent to these industries. In addition, the foundation continues to focus on fund raising through events and other activities in order to expand its services to the community.
